Ocean Net Combats Climate Change, Oceans Day 2007

I met with over 100 students, teachers, and parents showcasing the reality of our oceans, how we are managing our waste, the condition of our landfills, and how one family can combat climate change - the POWER of one.

Each audience was shown a selection of pictures, posters, and materials relating to how our behaviours are the source of the larger problems causing climate change. I then showed the students, teachers, and parents how there are simple solutions that they can do to reduce their waste, consume less energy, reduce the amount of plastic they use, and overall how to reduce their global footprint. All 100 students went home with a 10-Point Lifestyle Challenge brochure as well as their own "SAVE THE WORLD Checklist" to place on their refrigerator and report back to their teachers on their family's progress.

Overall the reception of the interactive presentation was fantastic. Representatives from DFO, parents, and teachers all commented on the seriousness of our situation and on the lasting impression left by the presentation. I wanted to inform you of this to ensure you are kept up to date on our climate change efforts. We all send our best and look forward to updating you of more success stories of Ocean Net, NEAT, and the 10-Point Lifestyle Challenge.

My very best,
